Wash-and-fold means you leave a bag of laundry out, we pick it up, wash, dry, fold and return it. With JNC, pricing starts at $2.25 per pound and your laundry comes back within 48 hours. You are charged by weight, not by the load, so a small bag costs less than a large one. This guide covers how pickup works, how to estimate your cost, and what to leave out.

How does laundry pickup work?

The process is short.

  1. You schedule a pickup. Pickup is on your day.
  2. You leave the bag out. Use a laundry bag or a sturdy tote at your door or the agreed spot.
  3. We text you. You get a message when it is picked up and another when it is back.
  4. We wash, dry and fold. Everything is folded and returned, usually within 48 hours.

You do not need to be home. Most customers leave the bag out and have it returned the same way. If you are in Madison Heights or Amherst, laundry pickup runs on Tuesdays and Fridays.

How much does wash-and-fold cost?

At the starting rate of $2.25 per pound, here is what different bag sizes cost. Weigh your bag on a bathroom scale, subtract your own weight, and you have the number.

Bag weightCost at $2.25 per lb
10 lb$22.50
15 lb$33.75
20 lb$45.00
30 lb$67.50
40 lb$90.00

Per-pound pricing is easy to forecast. A household that sends the same bag each week can multiply that cost by four for a monthly figure. Ask about the minimum pounds per pickup when you book, since it applies to home accounts and can change how often a small bag is worth sending.

What turnaround should I expect?

Return within 48 hours. That is the standard, and you will get a text when your bag is back. If you have a deadline, such as company arriving or a trip, tell us when you book so we can plan around it.

What should I leave out of the bag?

  • Dry-clean-only items. JNC does not offer dry cleaning.
  • Anything you do not want machine washed. If a care label says not to, keep it out.
  • Items with things in the pockets. Check pockets first. We are not responsible for items left in garments.
  • Very delicate pieces. Flag them instead. Flagged items are washed cold and air-dried.

If anyone in your home has sensitive skin or allergies, ask for the hypoallergenic option.

Can I send sheets, towels and linens?

Yes, and that is where many customers see the biggest benefit. Bedding and towels are heavy, take time to dry and fold awkwardly. They are worth handing off. If you are comparing the cost of doing it yourself, add the detergent, utilities and the hours you spend, then compare to the per-pound rate.

How should I prepare my laundry for pickup?

A little prep makes the result better.

  • Check every pocket. Tissues, pens and coins end up in the wash otherwise.
  • Use one sturdy bag and note anything with special instructions, such as a delicate or a fabric that needs cold water.
  • Put delicates in a separate pillowcase or small bag and tell us, so they are flagged for cold wash and air-drying.
  • Point out any stains you want looked at. No one can promise every stain comes out, but we can only treat the ones we know about.
  • Zip zippers and fasten hooks so they do not snag other items.

Why do people choose wash-and-fold?

The reason is almost always time. Laundry is a task that never finishes, and a busy family or a host with a rental can spend hours each week on it. Handing it over means the bag leaves on your day and comes back folded. It is a good fit for busy households, new parents, people who work long shifts, and anyone who would rather spend a Sunday some other way.

Is wash-and-fold cheaper than doing it myself?

It depends on how you value your time. A wash-and-fold price includes the washer, the dryer, the detergent, the electricity and water, and the folding. If your own costs are low and you enjoy the process, doing it at home is cheaper. If you count the hours, a $45 bag of 20 pounds can be a better deal than it looks, especially for bulky bedding.

What about hypoallergenic needs?

Hypoallergenic options are available. If you have a skin condition, a baby at home or a family member with allergies, mention it when you book and ask what is available.

How often should I schedule pickups?

Match the pickup to how fast the hamper fills. A household that does a load or two every few days may prefer a weekly pickup, and a one-person home may only need one every other week. Multiply your usual bag weight by the rate to estimate the monthly cost, then adjust. Hosts often tie pickups to their booking calendar, so linens leave after checkout and return before the next check-in.

Is there a commercial option?

Yes. Commercial laundry pickup and fold is for Airbnb hosts, salons, gyms, clinics and small inns. Pickup runs on a schedule you set, and linens and towels are washed to hospitality standard and folded and stacked by set. Rates start at $2.25 per pound, same as home service. Hosts often pair it with a turnover service, so linens leave and return while the unit is being cleaned.
